The Warrior and The Writer

The Life of a Teenage Writer

My Top 5 Series of 2015

Can you believe that it’s almost 2016? It feels so . . . weird. I don’t really know what to think about this. 0_____0

Anyway, here’s my list:

5. Ranger’s Apprentice/Brotherband Chronicles  by John Flanagan

Hey, I never said I would abide by the rules, but since these are companion series’ I thought this would be okay. *shrugs*

At the beginning of the year, I started reading the very long Ranger’s Apprentice series and loved them. They were the type of fantasy books that I love, and I devoured them. When I started to go into withdrawls, I dove into Brotherband Chronicles. And I loved those too.

4. Ascendance Trilogy by Jennifer A. Nielson

This series was my first Goodreads find. I saw that a lot of my Goodreads friends had read, and loved, this series, so I decided to try it out. I was not disappointed.

3. Leviathan Trilogy by Scott Westerfeld

This series is also a Goodreads find, and one of my first sci-fi reads. One of my Goodreads friends rated this series very highly, so I decided to check them out from the library and see what all the fuss was about. I am so glad I decided to do so. These books were so very different from the type of books that I typically read, and I found them fascinated.

1. Ilyon Chronicles by Jaye L. Knight and The Blades of Acktar by Tricia Mingerink

Now, I know this is kind of cheating again, but both of these series’ have impacted me so much that I couldn’t simply pick one.

I’d had my eye on Resistance, the first book in the Ilyon Chronicles, for a while when I finally decided to buy it. I read it in two days, and this is no short book. I anxiously awaited the second one and devoured that too. Now I am patiently {maybe, maybe not} waiting for the third.

The Blades of Acktar is a Jaye find. What do I mean by that, you may ask? Well, I read the author interview on Jaye’s blog and was fascinated. Since finding out how good Christian fiction could be from Jaye’s books, I decided to try this one out. And you all know my thoughts on them. *sly smile*

  1. I love the Ranger’s Apprentice series!! I have yet to read the final one (our library wont get it!!!!!!!!!), and I want to read the Brotherband Chronicles. :)

    • Personally, I didn’t like the last one as much as the others. *shrugs* It was kind of sad to see where all the characters were in their lives, but it was also kind of cool {if you get what I mean}.
But Brotherband was amazing! I loved them so much. I got the whole series from the library and, in one week, I finished them. That was a great week.
